About "Us"

Zanthym House is a small publishing company for the creative works of SMSmith. ZH was registered 12 June 1995 and has patiently bode the time waiting for SM to create a digital home. ZH & SM reside on a heritage ranch in southern Alberta Canada that was homesteaded in 1900 by WC & ME Smith (SM’s great-grandparents) with a backyard view from the ranch house as above—with daily stunning views of the Rocky Mountains.

SM is a jill-of-many-trades: writer, playwright, minor poet & composer, plus stockman’s assistant, handy-person, fencer, gardener, bread-maker, family historian, chief repairer of an awesome, 101-year old house, and on and on, as varying circumstances require. SM also resides near the remote end of the introvert scale where cameras decline to focus! Here are ten 6 to 7 word memoirs that briefly describe SM’s life and views:

▪ so much to read; so little time;
▪ so much to learn; to relearn;
▪ always running out of time and daylight;
▪ writes to nourish our better natures;
▪ prefers a WEconomy to a MEconomy*;
▪ third sibling of half-a-dozen ranch-raised kids;
▪ one of Inez Davidson’s Mountain View students;
▪ grad: B.A. (psychology), A.S. (LEJA), J.D. (law)
▪ observer of endless, historical déjà vus;
▪ believes truth and goodness will eventually prevail.

As explained by the top three bullets, ZH and SM do not accept manuscripts by other authors seeking publication. They wish such authors every success, but cannot assist.

Why are the works on this site “FREE” to read? ZH and SM support a gift-economy philosophy. To understand in greater detail what this means, see “God’s Economy … ?” in the More section of this site. (See also the online work of Charles Eisenstein and other gift-economists.)  What SM hopes and trusts is that readers’ instincts will prompt those who access and enjoy SM’s digital works to also access the gift-economy. So thank you, in advance for whatever you choose, even if it’s just to read.
